Clearing your Internet Disk Cache

To clear the internet disk cache, follow the instructions for your version. You do not need to be connected to the internet to clear the cache. However, if you are not connected to the internet, you may get a warning message that your browser cannot find or locate a specific page.  This is normal. Simply click OK or close the error message window. Then proceed to using the normal menus as instructed below.

Internet Explorer refers to the disk cache as temporary internet files.

MS Internet Explorer version 5x and higher

Do not check "clear offline content"

Better yet, turn on the Internet Explorer feature that will automatically Empty Temporary Internet Files any time you exit the browser.

MS Internet Explorer version 4

Do not check "clear all subscription content"

MS Internet Explorer version 3

Netscape Navigator and Communicator versions 4x

The memory cache is another location for your browser to temporarily store information from the internet. The memory cache is emptied automatically when you exit your browser program.

The actual number in Kbytes is the total capacity of your available Disk Cache. This total capacity is established when you install Netscape.

Don't panic if the number does not change when you click on Clear Disk Cache.  Netscape is working properly!   This number will not revert to zero (0) when you clear the cache.

Netscape Navigator version 3x

This number will not revert to zero (0) when you clear the cache.
